Terms of Service
Last updated 1 August 2026.
The short version: Scrivenza Insights is a free tool that reads your bank statement and shows you your own spending back in a more useful shape. It's guidance, not financial advice, and it's generated automatically so it can get things wrong — always check anything important against your actual bank records. Use it for your own statements only, and treat it kindly and it'll keep working for you.
Who we are
These terms are between you and Scrivenza Ltd (company number 17375328, registered in England and Wales), who operate this website and the Scrivenza Insights feature. By using Insights, you're agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.
What Scrivenza Insights is
Insights is a free feature that reads a UK bank statement PDF you upload, extracts the transactions, and uses AI to categorise your spending, detect recurring subscriptions, and produce a plain-language summary. It's built to help you understand your own spending — it doesn't manage money on your behalf, move money, or connect to your bank account directly. You upload a statement; we show you what's in it.
Not financial advice
What Insights shows you is guidance based on your own transactions, not financial, tax, or legal advice, and we're not a debt adviser. The categorisation, subscription detection, and summaries are generated automatically and can be wrong — a merchant name might be miscategorised, a subscription might be missed, or a one-off payment might be mistaken for a recurring one. Always check anything important against your own bank statement or online banking before acting on it. Where your statement suggests you might benefit from free, independent debt help, we'll point you to organisations like MoneyHelper, StepChange, National Debtline, or Citizens Advice — we don't earn anything from those referrals, and they're signposting, not a substitute for speaking to them directly.
Using the service responsibly
You agree to:
- Only upload bank statements that are your own, or that you have clear authority to upload (for example, a joint account you hold).
- Use Insights for your own personal, non-commercial understanding of your finances.
- Not attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service or the systems behind it.
- Be 18 or over — Insights is intended for adults managing their own personal finances, not for use by children.
We may block or restrict access for anyone we reasonably believe is misusing the service. Where Insights points you to an external organisation — for example the debt-help signposting described below — we're not responsible for the content of that organisation's own website.
Your data
How we handle your statement and the data we extract from it is covered in full in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: your PDF is never stored, and what we keep is deleted automatically, usually within 7 days.
The service is provided "as is"
Insights is free, and we provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times, and we may change, suspend, or withdraw the service, or any part of it, at any time. We'll try to give notice of anything significant, but as a free feature we don't promise to. If we ever discontinue Insights, any comparison data you've opted into keeping will still be deleted on its normal 90-day schedule rather than kept indefinitely.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we don't accept liability for losses arising from your use of Insights, including decisions made based on its output. This doesn't affect any liability we can't legally exclude, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Intellectual property
The Scrivenza name, logo, and the website's design and content belong to Scrivenza Ltd. We don't claim any ownership over your statement data or the results generated from it — we're not in the business of collecting your financial history, we're showing your own data back to you, and it's deleted on the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Continuing to use Insights after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be dealt with in the courts of England and Wales. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
